Hilux 12V Atlas DIAGRAMTESTSANALYSISFIELD
source

Hilux Alternator (smart)

engine bay
Vehicle charge source
Smart alternator with battery-sense module. The DC-DC cloth sense cable terminates here [traced 11 Oct].
KNOWN GAP: No alternator POWER feed reaches the DC-DC as found — sense line only.
isolator

Victron ArgoFET 200-3

under driver seat
Three-way battery isolator — one charge source, three isolated banks
FET-class isolator, ~0.1V drop. Replaces the Argodiode (measured 0.5V drop).
KNOWN GAP: Energize tab necessity on this vehicle is unproven — decided by test, not assumption.

battery

Battery 1 — HardKorr 200Ah

battery bank
Fridge battery (priority 2: food and water)
LiFePO4 200Ah. Feeds the Engel 80L via 50A breaker and grey Anderson plug.
battery

Battery 2 — Century Lithium Pro 150Ah

battery bank
Starlink + canopy battery (priority 3: comms)
LiFePO4 150Ah. Feeds the Starshield via 50A breaker and the quick-disconnect Anderson plug.
KNOWN GAP: Picture CHANGED 13 Oct: carried Starlink ALL NIGHT and read ~13.5V pre-dawn — the ~4h-to-dead pattern did not repeat. Also unexplained: all banks equalised overnight despite the isolator (path UNVERIFIED).
battery

Battery 3 — Century Lithium Pro 150Ah

behind passenger seat
Jump-link + inverter reserve (priority: isolated emergency reserve)
LiFePO4 150Ah. 300A manual bridge to the crank circuit for self-jump-start. Inverter via 70A breaker. Commander hypothesis 13 Oct: inverter/jump-link hookup may back-drain the crank side; idea on the table — fully isolate B3/jump onto a SEPARATE solar panel.
KNOWN GAP: Must never be drained by other banks. Isolation is the contract.
battery

Crank Battery (2018 Hilux)

engine bay
Starts the vehicle — priority 1: motion and survival
Toyota OEM lead-acid. Factory battery-sense module on the negative post.
KNOWN GAP: Drain CONFIRMED ongoing 13 Oct: fell to 10.0V overnight WITH the TJM leads cut — TJM exonerated. Suspects now: vehicle parasitic draw, or the battery itself dying (repeated deep discharge kills lead-acid). Brett Baxter on site 14 Oct 10:00. Fresh controlled T-DRAIN pending.
dc_charger

Enerdrive ePOWER DC2DC 40A+

under driver seat
Multi-source battery charger (alternator + solar) for the three lithium banks
EN3DC40+. Seven ports: ignition sense, battery in ±, solar in ±, battery out ±, unit ground.
KNOWN GAP: No true battery input wired as found; solar landed on the battery input port.
graph LR; A["Alternator"] --> B["Enerdrive DC2DC"]; C["Solar Panels"] --> B; B --> D["Isolator"];
load

Engel 80L Fridge/Freezer

canopy
Food and water — priority 2
On Battery 1 via 50A breaker and grey Anderson plug [traced 11 Oct].
load

Projecta 600W Inverter

canopy
240V AC from Battery 3
8ga red via 70A breaker [traced 11 Oct].
source

Roof Solar Array — 2x 130W

canopy roof
260W of solar, split into two legs
18.8V measured, overcast [11 Oct]. Split feed — one leg per original charger [12 Oct].
KNOWN GAP: One leg lands on the DC-DC BATTERY input (wrong port); only the main feed is fused.
shunt

HardKorr 500A Shunt + Bluetooth Monitor

battery bank
Whole-system current accounting — every amp in or out crosses the shunt
All battery negatives must land on the B- side; system grounds on the P- side.
KNOWN GAP: As found miswired (batteries on both sides) — monitor disconnected for false beeping.
load

Starlink Mini

canopy
Comms — satellite internet (priority 3)
Draw 2.02A measured by clamp [11 Oct]. Runs on 48V from the Starshield.
KNOWN GAP: ~4h runtime on a 150Ah bank is unexplained — retest after the ArgoFET swap (T-STARLINK-RUNTIME).
converter

Starshield 12V to 48V Converter

canopy frame
Steps 12V up to 48V for the Starlink Mini
Mandatory component. Starlink Mini does not run on 12V.
KNOWN GAP: Do not remove. Ever.
graph LR; A["Battery 2"] --> B["50A Breaker"]; B --> C["Anderson Plug"]; C --> D["Starshield"]; D --> E["Starlink Mini"];
dc_charger

TJM Solar Unit

behind radiator
Phase 0/1 solar charger — superseded, orphaned
Found LIVE 12 Oct: blue LED flashing with car off, its AGM battery long removed. Luke cut its leads; the crank then refused charge (leads were tied to the factory battery-sense circuit).
KNOWN GAP: EXONERATED as the drain source 13 Oct — crank still fell to 10.0V with its leads cut. Still physically installed; removal stays on the work order as orphaned-hardware cleanup, no longer as the suspect.
